U-Bahn Station

I was so busy during the last weeks that I didn´t take any pictures of the new paintings. So I am going to show my last plein air piece of a tube entrance here in Vienna. The architect was Otto Wagner, who created the whole city train architecture at the end of the 19th century. I painted this piece with Andrew Judd, when he stayed in Vienna this Fall and maybe he will post his version on his blog.

I like the use of edges here, the subtle suggestion of a high rise in the background and the crisp edges in the tube entrance structure.
Great use of warm and cool colors in the cast shadows. I really like the delicate, lyrical lines in the green wrought iron above the entrance :)

Sweet!

First congrats with your permission to paint in the museum!! I looking forward also too see you work from it already.

Second, this if a nice one. I had to smile a little when I saw it. The big "STOP" sign just at the border of the painting, ... too funny.

Thanks Jennifer, that day we started so late, that the sun went down at the end of the session. So I worked quite frantically and when I had to stop, I didn´t feel too good about that painting. With some distance my opinion changed.

Thanks René, I am also quite pleased that they had given me the permission. I am not so tough like you when it comes to painting in every weather.
I think these little details, like the stop sign, make the difference.

Hi Stefan.
That was such a fun day!! Your friend dropped by and we told jokes and had so many laughs.

I've been so busy working I haven't posted a thing or even visited anyones blogs!

I really like the painting you did this day and it is always inspiring to paint beside you.

I will post my painting from that day on my blog.

Cheers... Andrew Judd

Very nice work, Stefan! The sense of atmosphere is really nice in this piece. I love adding details like stop signs to my pieces too--keeps things real--and interesting. ;)

Hi Andrew, this painting session was really a blast. At least when we stopped painting and had some tuned softdrinks. The people thought we were bums. I am looking forward to see your version again. Cheers!

Hi Carole, every time I leave these little things and details out it looks wrong. The only thing to keep in mind is not being too pedantic in the rendering of it. Nice that you dropped by and thanks.

Hallo Stefan,

Bin gespannt, was Du sagen wirst.
Viele Grüße nach Nbg.
