Of Man and Ape

This time I painted in the staircase where these statues of famous scientists are and after I had finished the painting of Alexander von Humboldt, I did a quick one of the Ape.

Wonderful, you must be poor by all the entree. :-D

No René, I was given the pemission to paint there with free admittance. This Museum is also so generous to grant free entrance to Artists with an International Artists ID.

Wow!! Both paintings of the Ape and Alexander are ravishing. Nice to see your painting process as well. You are very fortunate to have access to painting in the Museums. Here in LA, they won't allow it (unless you bribe them with a significant amount of money)
;-)

Thanks, Andrew! We all like to see behind the scenes and as you know I am also very curious seeing the way it is done but all the technical aspect is not so important that your emotions and your perception. Like Richard S. used to say, paint what you see and trust your eyes.

Jennifer! Thank you very much for your praise that flatters me. In the museum they are very supportive and friendly. Frequently there had been art shows in this place with themes related to the Natural Historic aspect.

Stegan.. I love the painting of the statue. The sense of warm light is great!! The ape is a nice one too. Vienna must have no shortage of subject matter to paint.

Museum closed?!

Thanks Michael, nice that you came to visit my blog. I think one can find in almost every place interesting subject matters and sometimes the ambitious ones are harder to paint.

Hey René, you are making a lot of pressure on me. ;-)

Reminds me of Sargent. Good work! Greetings from Nashville TN.

Wow! C.Ousley that is a compliment! Getting compared to Sargent, one of my Favourites. Thanks a lot and greetings from Vienna.

By the way, I like the title of your blog, because that painting a day movement appears more like some sort of sport.

wfYes indeed, Sarge is tops. Thanks or the visit to my site. With my title I am not bound to do a painting a day. I may be playing keys or goofing off!
