Small Oil Studies

Here are some further examples from my evening class activities and one of our favourite models is Andreas. He is such a well tempered and nice person and everyone is inspired by him. When I have the nerve and space I join my students painting. These studies are 15 x 20 cm ( 6 x 8 in), Oil on mat board.

Indeed it is Stefan, a kind of chain letter. But nice it is.

These painting are even nicer, how long did it took, per painting? Could you tell a little more about how you put this up. I had Model-class this evening and thought lets give it a go with oil,... that wasn't a success much to bad to even scan it, hehehehe.

René, each took about one hour. After giving the panel a wash of color I make the drawing with the brush and block in the big planes with an almost accurate but slightly darker color. Then I refine the colors, drawing and edges. But the most important thing is, to paint fairly small in order to have enough time for the refinement and not bothering about covering too big areas with paint.

About the tagging thing, I´ll have to consider seven new "victims". ;-)

Thanks, an hour that's more then I thought.

Thanks for explain a little more.
And good luck with Merkmalen, oormerken or tagging

Nue: I really like the portrait -- very solid, nice contrast with the warm and cool colors and nice edges.

Thank you, Steve. I tried not to become too detailed and I am also kinda satisfied with the result.

Beautiful images, both the nudes and landscapes. I really enjoy your use of color and the lighting on these lastest images are fantastic.

The blue ground color works nicely with the portrait. Your paint feels very wet, very alive. I like that.

solid painting here Stefan. You have a good sense for the structural anatomy.. very much like the last head... it captures a "mood".

Thanks, Tom and Michael! With this head study I tried not to be so timid .

These are quite nice, I like the bold approach where you can see a simplification and solid planes too.
