The Cowboy Poet

During my recent portrait workshop I asked our favourite model Andreas to wear something on his head, he brought this one. It was great fun to do these.

Fantastic portrait!
You really captured the rugged and masculine character of the 'Poet'.
The flesh tones are gorgeous and the brush strokes fluid and bold.

I really like the profile portrait and the red background works really well.

These are really good! I especially like the composition in the first one, and the brushwork is very confident in both paintings.

Hi Jennifer,
sorry for my late reply, but I was in Macedonia for the past two weeks.

Doing a portrait from a person one is fond of makes quite a difference. Thanks for your nice words.

Thanks Ryan! I think these very bright colored background are sometimes problematic for the suble tones in the skin. So thanks that you like it.

Leslie! The composition of one head is always a little limited, so I thought of using the panel horizontal and pushing the head to one side. It is also important to me to work with the abstract value of planes. Thanks for visiting and your comment.
