The red chair | Der Rote Sessel

Here is a painting I was working on in Spring. It took us several weeks to complete and I haven´t done such an amitious work for a long time.

Dies ist ein Gemälde an dem ich im Frühjahr gemalt habe. Zur Fertigstellung brauchten wir einige Wochen und ich hatte lange kein so aufwendiges Bild mehr gemacht.

Excellent work, Stefan! How you managed to paint a red and green composition with out it looking like Christmas, is beyond me. Maybe because you separated the two colors with a dark neutral? hmm. It's wonderful.

Silvina,
I haven´t thought of christmas by choosing this color combination. On the other hand, this might be a christmas painting. :-)

I broke the background colors by glazing over them. Maybe that did the trick.

Thanks for your regular visits and comments.

I like the way the light falls in this painting Stefan, just highlighting her left shoulder. It's clever and it works. Quite a fascinating painting overall.

Sheila,
I tried to deal with the lighting situation very carefully, in order to guide the eye.
