Picture Gallery | Gemäldegalerie

I am still continuing the museum series and here are two more sophisticated ones. The second one is another version of this one, where I didn´t like the composition and the color mood. So I did this slightly bigger version.

Lucca fa presto, 50 x 70 cm, Oil on Canvas

Green in front of red | Grün vor Rot, 70 x 70 cn, Oil on Canvas

both are nice, but there is such a perfect balance of values and warm and cool colors on the bottom one.

Indeed, I do wonder though if it isn't gonna be a so called "Droste" effect when you ever getting a show in such a museum?

Love your compositions here Stefan - rooms within rooms - can't resist it. And that red sings right out in the bottom one.

Hi William,
it was you who gave me the the hint to be more decisive about my colour mood in the first version. Thanks for that and your continuing interest.

René, I never thought of these paintings in that way. Your second link is a fabulous example.

Thanks Rob. I don´t quite get the word "solid". I would appreciate an explanation.

Hi Sheila,
the red pushing towards us and getting stopped by green is the story. Thanks for your visit and comment.

fabulous work Stefan!!! Drawing is spot on, and I love the colour harmonies in all of them. I don't know if it is the sitting couches in these paintings or the older word feel of the museum room.. but these really remind me of some great victorian/edwardian interiors done by painters like Merrit Chase and Duvenek.

Thanks Michael!
It is so wonderful to be able to work in this place, because one is surrounded by all these wonderful paintings and this gives me great energy.
