Icebear Bottom

I wanted to do another interior scene that I kept more sketchy. And what is more picturesque that an icebear from behind?

Well, you got me there Stefan...I would say an icebear from behind is undoubtedly picturesque ;-)
There is a wonderfully spirited quality to the sketchiness of the painting and you are quite adept with nailing down the lighting effectively, convincingly and beautifully! (indoors and out)

Sadly the bears look alive in this one. I kid, lovely as usual.

Jennifer, I had the choice between so many animals which I could have "taken" from behind, but the icebear looked so cute. ;-)
Thanks about your comment because the painting took me longer that average and I stuggled with the flourescent light in the showcases.

William, if you would see them closer, some of the animals look pretty worn and dusty. But when it is dull weather outside and the rooms are darker the mood gets creepy.

Wenn du etwas unterhalb des "lass-es-so"-stadium bleibst und ich über das "lass-es-so"-stadium etwas weiter hinausgehe, malen wir beide ganz ansehnliche bilder...!
bis bald!

GGRrRRRRRRRRRR (sorry had to add that sound effect). Stefan... I feel good knowing that the bears are contained.. because they actually look like they could attack at any moment! Nice job with the drawing, and I like the subtle handling of the reflection in the glass on the brown bear to the left.

COOL !!! You'd expect to see these in Canada more than Vienna. That museum is amazing! I think you painted these beautifully Stefan.

Cheers.... Andrew

This ones great Stefan, you mentioned the fluorescent light in the showcases was a bit of a struggle, it doesn't show at all that it was. The bear standing besides the ice bear is just so well done, .... Sehr gut!!

Two ice bears from behind maybe? :-P

Michael O, ich versuche mein Bestes, jedoch wird man immer wieder rückfällig. Aber das kennst Du ja. ;-P

Thanks Michael, I had spent quite some time on the drawing, to get the perspective right. It is hard sometimes, because I want to start with the color, but it is worth it. I am still earlier done, because I don´t spent so much time on corrections.

Hey Andrew, you will soon be in Vienna and in order that you don´t get homesick, you can go to the bears in the museum. ;-) Thanks for your comment.

René, when you see the original I still have the feeling that the color temperature isn´t right. The museum provides so many subjects to paint but the call of outdoor painting is so strong at the moment.
I already thought of a series of backsides. ;-)

As usual great sense of space and perspective...

Thanks, Chris!

You have brought a serene museum feel to a composition that is filled to the brim. Lots of objects with out the overworked busy distraction. Your expertise is obviously apparent in this work.

William, your description of the painting is wonderful. Thank you so much.
