Coffin | Sarg Part 3

When I started painting, the acrylic surface turned out to be very slippery. The bristles created a streaky brushwork and showed to much of the green underpainting. So I decided to see this stage as an underpainting.

Audacious!
I had to think, what's the message here? Or more accurately, how is the public going to interpret this?
They might think;
a) these coffins are a comfortable place to rest.
b) get burried nude, it's like skinny dipping.
c) so glad he didn't paint a corpse.
d) all of the above. ; D

Thanks, Joe, Ed, Silvina and Alan.

Silvina- First I have had to look up "audacious" and I like it, because it fits. I am so curious what the people will say. The show will be in a church and wait until you see the lid.

I'm very interested to see if they'll even allow it in a church. I don't know how it is in Germany, but in the States churches are very uptight about nudity and images of nudes. Even if it isn't meant to be erotic.

I suspect that it's a cultural mindset, not necessarily a Christian mindset. I will be watching with great interest.

Silvina- We had already an exhibition there and one of the colleagues had a big painting in the show of death and the maiden, in which the maiden was also nude. But by writing this I am not sure anymore because my top painting is a lot more offensive.

But I have to admit, here in Europe we don´t make such a fuss about nudity like in the USofA.
