Figure Studies

Since December I am painting the nude with my evening class and sometimes I did paint along with them. I found it quite hard to concentrate on my paintings when I had to stop for the critiques of the students work but here are some, I am able to show.

There is a saying, that in a museum the time stands still. Here you can see that I paint so fast that even a photo can´t capture me when I am on duty. :-)

Sports Field

Michael and I were so keen on painting outdoors that the weather forecast wasn´t able to stop us and we were rewarded with a beautiful but chilly day. The painting was done in a place called Augarten and depicted in the painting on the right is one of the Flak Towers.

Icebear Bottom

I wanted to do another interior scene that I kept more sketchy. And what is more picturesque that an icebear from behind?

Live Paintings

Just the other night I went to a drawing class by a colleague of mine and did these 25 minute sketches. So I don´t hang around the museum all the time. The next post will be some plein air paintings I did.

Two Ducks

It is very funny that almost every day when I am in the museum there are visitors from one nation who have the majority. On some it is the Spanish day on others the Asian or Italian. This time it was the day of Hungary. There were loads of Hungarian Schoolkids running past my easel, shouting and asking stupid questions. I finally gave up totally deranged.

Diana Ape

In the past years I have done so many portraits, so this one wasn´t too difficult, except that this Ape has more hair than the average sitter. I really like its beard!

At the beginning of the last session I corrected some drawing flaws, shown here in the photograph.



This is the block in stage, where I tried to capture the right values. In these areas I used only Transparent Oxide Red, Yellow Ochre, Ultramarin Blue and Titanium White, in order not to become to bright in the surrounding areas of the arch.



Here I did more detailed work and stopped.
